Tech N9ne "Planet" - listen now on Spotify

Over 21 years of the incredibly productive music career and in effect at 2nd of March, we received the 20th album of Kansas City legend. An impressive amount for one artist. His discography includes an eight collaboration projects with artists signed to label co-founded by him, Strange Music. Besides that, he also released couple side projects, extended plays and documentaries.

Aaron Dontez Yates known as Tech N9ne despite his legacy with many great works is still not among the most popular names in the Rap game. I wondered a bit how it is possible that Tech is still not so recognized by many on Hip Hop scene. Finally, I found an answer thanks to the Justin Hunte, music journalist and very reliable source of information. In his vlog for HipHopDX "Tech N9ne: The Greatest Rapper Of All Time" he took a closer look at the same question I had and offer me some satisfactory answers. One of the most obvious points was that the Tech is inspiring by other, more hardcore music genres like Punk Rock and Metal, which are not so respected among conservative Hip Hop fans. That explained a lot, but for a person as me who is looking for unexpected alternative music combinations Tech N9ne became one of my favorite rappers from his first song I heard, which was a Krizz Kaliko's song titled "Spaz".

He is one of just a few rappers who regularly works with Metal musicians. The greatest songs with them would be "Straight Out The Gate" with Serj Tankian from System Of A Down, "Wither" with Corey Taylor from Slipknot and "Starting To Turn" with Jonathan Davis from Korn. Thanks to this original and open approach Tech's music is something that you will not hear every day. Also, those uncommon combinations let to discover different types of music for people who listen to only one genre.

On his new album "Planet" Tech is going back to the roots of Hip Hop culture. We could see an example of that in the first video promoting the album. In "Don't Nobody Want None" he is mentioning how Breakdance became a part of Hip Hop and praising B-boys. The beat for that song is a tribute to Electro style created by German group from 90. Music Instructor. Their tracks were classic backgrounds for Breakdancing.

There are also some songs which tell about Tech's personal experiences. In "Comfortable" he telling about misunderstanding that happened during his interview in radio Hot97. It cause a conflict on a line between him and his fans (Technicians) and on the other side the Insane Clown Posse and Juggalos. We get more insides of that case in a song "My Fault", where Tech is explaining more charges against him, like controversial situation around the live performance of his song "Areola".

Among the guests appeared known from earlier collaborations Krizz Kaliko, Snow The Product, Mackenzie Nicole and Darrein Safron and for the very first time Machine Gun Kelly.

After so many years Tecca Nina is still creative, have fresh ideas and sound much more energetic than most of his younger musical opponents. Good to hear him again in great form and I believe we are going to hear in future more of his albums. For now I advice to catch next spaceship and take a trip to Tech's "Planet".
